PSD Warns Against Using Unsafe Heaters After Suffocation Incidents

Amman: The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) has renewed warnings to citizens about the dangers of using unsafe heaters commonly known as "Shamosa" heaters, citing their role in causing suffocation incidents that can lead to serious injuries and deaths.

According to Jordan News Agency, the spokesperson mentioned that Civil Defense teams are still responding to reports of suffocation involving people who continue to use this type of heater. Although all cases handled so far have been classified as moderate, the risk remains severe.

He urged the public to take the warning seriously and recognize its critical importance, stressing that such heaters should not be used under any circumstances. The message, he said, is directed to everyone, especially those who know someone still using these heaters, to fulfill their humanitarian and social responsibility by warning them and helping them dispose of the devices.

"These heaters are lethal tools inside homes," the spokesperson warned.
