Amman: Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint Al Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of Princess Sumaya University for Technology's (PSUT) Board of Trustees, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Royal Jordanian Airlines CEO Samer Majali. The agreement, signed on Tuesday, focuses on advancing scientific research and cybersecurity development within the aviation industry.
According to Jordan News Agency, the partnership aims to establish strategic collaborations between the academic and private sectors. A key component of the agreement is the emphasis on student training and the exchange of professional expertise in aviation cybersecurity, equipping future leaders to meet emerging challenges in the field.
"This partnership embodies a strategic vision to build effective bridges between academia and business sectors," Princess Sumaya stated at the signing ceremony. She highlighted the initiative's role in preparing a generation of professionals capable of addressing future challenges through science and innovation.
Her Highness underscored that this collaboration serves as a pioneering model by creating high-quality training opportunities. Such initiatives are designed to enhance the competitiveness of university graduates, enriching their educational experiences with practical knowledge that aligns with the rapid developments in both local and international sectors.
Princess Sumaya also emphasized PSUT's integral role as the academic arm of the Royal Scientific Society. She noted its dedication to supporting students, faculty, and researchers through facilities like laboratories and research centers, including the iPARK business incubator and the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, all situated within El Hassan Science City.
Samer Majali, CEO of Royal Jordanian, expressed gratitude for Princess Sumaya's visit. He reiterated the airline's commitment to youth development, offering specialized training programs through JATS. These programs link education with sectors like aviation IT, providing future employment opportunities.
Majali detailed Royal Jordanian's dedication to information technology and cybersecurity. He described efforts to establish a comprehensive cybersecurity ecosystem across all company levels to ensure a secure and sustainable digital environment.
Furthermore, Majali outlined the airline's strategy to modernize its fleet to 41 aircraft and expand its network to 60 global destinations, enhancing Jordan's position as a tourism hub.
JATS, fully owned by Royal Jordanian and located at Queen Alia International Airport, specializes in aviation training. It offers simulation systems for pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance technicians from RJ and regional airlines and has trained 100,000 professionals to date.
This partnership aligns with PSUT's ongoing efforts to provide an integrated educational environment that keeps pace with the latest scientific and technological advancements.
