Amman: The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced on Monday that it is implementing a medium-level emergency plan starting this evening. This decision comes in anticipation of a low-pressure weather system expected to bring cold temperatures, storms, heavy rainfall, and the possibility of flash floods.
According to Jordan News Agency, Omar Maharmeh, the spokesperson for the Ministry, highlighted the necessity of this emergency plan due to the predicted severe weather conditions. The plan may be escalated to higher readiness levels based on ongoing assessments conducted by field public works personnel. This will ensure that the Ministry is prepared to handle any developments in the weather situation effectively.
Maharmeh emphasized the importance of full-time commitment from all staff during this emergency period. He instructed field office directors and their teams to perform regular inspections of critical infrastructure such as roads, culverts, and waterways. The aim is to maintain public safety and ensure smooth traffic flow despite adverse weather conditions.
Furthermore, the spokesperson underscored the need for rapid responses to any reports received. It is crucial for the ministry's main operations room to be kept informed of any observations or emergencies that require immediate attention, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response to the weather challenges.
