Amman: The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced that the new outpatient clinic and blood bank building at Ma'an Government Hospital is scheduled for completion and to become operational by the end of March, with construction currently 84 percent complete.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ministry spokesperson Omar Maharmeh detailed that the 5,154-square-meter project will feature outpatient clinics, a blood bank, laboratories, radiology units, administrative offices, and support facilities. Funded by the Ma'an Governorate Council at a cost of JD3.75 million, the expansion seeks to centralize diagnostic and treatment services and enhance the quality of care.
The two-floor building will include service rooms, a medical gas facility, and external features such as parking areas, courtyards, and fences. It will host general and specialized clinics, laboratories, and imaging units, designed to meet international healthcare standards.
Ma'an Hospital Director Walid Rawad highlighted that the expansion will increase patient capacity and alleviate pressure on the current facility, which has only six clinics but serves over 600 patients daily. He emphasized the hospital's strategic importance for local residents, travelers to Aqaba, and those heading toward Saudi Arabia.
Rawad explained that the new facility, situated within the hospital grounds, will feature separate blood bank units, radiology rooms, laboratories, administrative sections, 30 clinics, multiple waiting areas, and rooms for ECG, echocardiography, dressing, plastering, and minor operations. Patient queuing will be fully automated.
The facility is projected to accommodate approximately 7,400 patients monthly. Rawad stated that the project supports the royal vision to improve healthcare services across governorates, noting that electricity is connected and equipment valued at JD1.2 million is being delivered and stored in preparation for the final handover.
