Putin to Macron: Ukraine Settlement Must Be Comprehensive

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin told French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday that any resolution to the conflict in Ukraine must be comprehensive, address the root causes, and be based on current realities on the ground, according to a statement from the Kremlin.

According to Jordan News Agency, during a phone conversation between the two leaders, the Kremlin noted that both sides acknowledged the special responsibility borne by Russia and France as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council in maintaining international peace and security.

Despite fundamental differences in their positions, Putin and Macron reaffirmed their commitment to working together on international crises, the statement added.
