Amman: Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) reported a significant increase in passenger traffic with 834,894 passengers in September, reflecting a 15.7% rise compared to the same month last year, the Airport International Group (AIG) announced on Wednesday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the AIG statement highlighted that aircraft movements reached 6,965, marking a 16.9% increase, while air cargo stood at 6,282 tons, showing a 10% rise compared to September 2024. From the start of 2025 through September, QAIA managed 7,302,682 passengers, which is a 7.5% increase from the same period in the previous year.
Aircraft movements totaled 59,268, recording a 4.7% increase, while air cargo experienced a 10.8% decline to 51,547 tons. AIG CEO Nicolas Devillier remarked that September witnessed a gradual return to normal air traffic levels at QAIA, indicating a recovery following the summer season.
Devillier attributed the rebound to the return of Jordanian expatriates, consistent travel demand, and improved airline connectivity, which emphasized the airport's resilience and operational stability amid regional challenges. He also highlighted the commitment of AIG teams and partners in maintaining this momentum, improving the passenger experience, and strengthening QAIA's role as Jordan's primary gateway to the world.
