DOHA: Exports from Qatar's private sector to Jordan reached $48 million in the third quarter of 2024, reflecting a 6.2% rise compared to the same period in 2023, when exports amounted to $45 million. The increase underscores strengthening trade relations between the two nations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qatari exports to Jordan primarily included organic fertilizers, steel bars, medical solutions, food products, and a variety of consumer goods. Additionally, the shipments encompassed significant quantities of chemicals such as motor oils, sulfonic acid, aluminum molds, polyethene, paraffin, chemical fertilizers, and plastic bags.
A recent quarterly report by Qatar Chamber of Commerce revealed that the total value of private sector exports from Qatar during the third quarter of 2024 reached approximately 2.56 billion Qatari riyals, based on certificates of origin issued by the Chamber. The report also outlined the major export destinations, with Asian countries, excluding GCC states and Arab nations, being the largest recipients, accounting for 40% of total exports valued at 1 billion riyals.
The report indicated that GCC countries were the second-largest importers, receiving 25.7% of total exports, which amounted to 657.5 million riyals. The European Union ranked third with exports worth around 631.6 million riyals, or 24.7%. Overall, Qatari exports reached 101 countries.
India emerged as Qatar's leading trade partner, receiving goods worth 442.1 million riyals, or 17.3% of total exports. The Netherlands followed with 375.3 million riyals (14.7%), while the UAE ranked third with exports valued at 280.3 million riyals (11%). China was fourth with 189.6 million riyals, representing 7.4% of total exports.
