Rahi Prays for Beirut Port Victims, Calls to Free the Judiciary

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi stated that "on the memorial of the fourth year of the Beirut port explosion, we renew our condemnation of this explosion and extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims' families. We also offer our prayers for the healing of the wounded." He called for "political and partisan interference in the judiciary to be removed and for an international investigation to be conducted, as the local investigation is stalled." During his Sunday sermon from Dimane, Patriarch Rahi added: "We pray for justice in the investigation of the Beirut port explosion on the memorial of its fourth year," and continued, "Let us pray to God, through the intercession of Blessed Patriarch Doueihi, to have mercy on the souls of the victims of the explosion, to free the judiciary, and to restore Lebanon's reputation. Blessed Patriarch Doueihi is a beacon of hope during difficult times." He also expressed regret over "the recent farcical high school exams, which have exposed corrupti on, and the reluctance of universities worldwide to accept our students.
