Re-Elected Australian Premier’s New Cabinet to Be Sworn In Next Week

Canberra: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that his Cabinet will be sworn in early next week, following the Labor Party's landslide election victory.

According to Anadolu Agency, Albanese mentioned in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that he plans to spend the weekend deciding on the composition of his Cabinet members and their respective portfolios. The Labor Caucus, which includes all of the party's elected members of parliament, is scheduled to convene in Canberra on Friday. During this meeting, they will vote on the Cabinet members, after which Albanese will assign portfolios next Tuesday.

The Labor Party has secured 89 out of the 150 seats in the lower house, surpassing the 76-seat threshold needed to form a government with a simple majority. Additionally, Labor candidates are leading in the vote count for four of the remaining 11 seats still available. In the upper house, the Senate, the party is expected to control between 27 and 30 of the 76 seats.
