Red Crescent Issues Heat Safety Advisory Amid Rising Temperatures

Amman: The Jordan Red Crescent has issued a public advisory urging residents to take precautionary measures to prevent sunstroke and heat exhaustion as the Kingdom experiences a surge in temperatures.

According to Jordan News Agency, the organization emphasized the need to avoid direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight, particularly during midday and afternoon hours, and to increase intake of cold, hydrating fluids.

The Red Crescent warned against leaving children unattended in vehicles, allowing them to play under the sun for extended periods, or leaving flammable materials inside cars. It also underscored the increased health risks for individuals with cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, endocrine disorders, and for the elderly.

Additional recommendations included avoiding caffeinated or sugary drinks, wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and using masks in dusty areas. For those working in construction and agriculture, the organization advised wearing hats and sunglasses to reduce exposure to direct sunlight.

The statement also cautioned against overloading electrical outlets to minimize the risk of accidents.
