Regional Organizations Call for Immediate Intervention in Gaza

Cairo: Arab, Islamic, and regional organizations convened in Cairo to issue an urgent plea for the cessation of Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the African Union declared that the actions of the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza amount to "a genocide of full proportions," necessitating immediate international involvement to halt the situation.

The organizations condemned the use of starvation and blockades by the occupation forces as tactics against civilians. They demanded safe, adequate, and sustainable access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, warning that the region could become uninhabitable if current conditions persist. The meeting underscored that relief for the Palestinian people is an inalienable human right and criticized the current aid distribution mechanisms, which have resulted in dangerous conditions for both civilians and humanitarian workers.

They rejected any plans to displace the Palestinian population from their land, deeming such actions as significant violations of international law. The organizations pledged full support for an Arab-Islamic initiative aimed at the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.

The call also included demands for an independent and impartial international commission to investigate all violations in Gaza, focusing on war crimes, crimes against humanity, and potential genocide, to determine both individual and collective legal responsibilities.

Additionally, the organizations advocated for the empowerment of UNRWA in executing its crucial role in Gaza, expressing disapproval of any efforts to undermine the agency. They urged political, financial, and legal support for the refugee organization to continue its mission effectively.
