Amman: The Ministry of Youth and the Greater Amman Municipality, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Government Communications, and the Jordan Tourism Board, are organizing more public events for football fans at the Roman Amphitheater, Hashemite Square, and the Odeon Theater in downtown Amman. This initiative is for the national football team's World Cup match against Algeria on Tuesday, which will be broadcast live on huge screens.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event will feature a patriotic atmosphere, uniting Jordanians in support of their national team. The initiative follows a remarkable turnout at the Roman Amphitheater for the Jordanian team's "Al Nashama" first match, demonstrating national unity behind the Jordanian squad in its historic World Cup debut.
The match against Algeria is scheduled for 6:00 AM on Tuesday, June 23, and will be broadcast live on television. Gates at the venues will open to the public two hours before kickoff to accommodate the expected crowds.
Organizers anticipate that upcoming matches will attract large audiences and have made provisions for families, youth, and people with disabilities, ensuring clear entry and exit routes. They have also designated spots for the media to ensure a safe experience for all attendees.
Additional screens and viewing areas will be available, with entry limited to venue capacity and in accordance with regulations. Football enthusiasts are encouraged to arrive early, follow instructions, and help preserve the Roman Amphitheater, a key historical landmark in the capital.
Fans are also urged to wear red jerseys, Al Nashama's away kit, and bring Jordanian flags and shemagh (keffiyeh) to cheer on their team, adding a patriotic touch to the event's atmosphere.
This event holds special significance at the Roman Amphitheater, an iconic landmark in Amman, etched in the city's memory for nearly 2,000 years. Today, Jordanians unite behind their national team in an exceptional sporting and patriotic moment.
