Amman: The Royal Hashemite Documentation Center unveiled a historical document on Wednesday to mark the 56th anniversary of the official launch of the Jordan News Agency (Petra), which dates back to July 16, 1969.

According to Jordan News Agency, the center released a statement revealing that the document is page 802 of the Official Gazette. This page contains the Royal Decree approving the "Amended Bylaw for the Administration of the Ministry of Information." The decree begins with the formal royal preamble: "We, Hussein bin Talal, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."

The center highlighted that this royal phrasing emphasizes the constitutional authority and formality involved in the issuance of laws and regulations at that time. It also signifies the institutional foundation upon which the Jordan News Agency, later officially referred to as "Petra," was established.
