Russia announces it will not participate in “peace summits” on Ukraine

Russia announced today, Saturday, that it will not participate in the "peace summits" related to Ukraine in their current form. Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed in a press statement that these summits are not related to the required settlement, adding that Russia's representatives will not participate in any meetings within the "Brgenstock Process" in Switzerland. The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman considered that this process has nothing to do with the settlement. Zakharova pointed out that the "so-called second summit seeks the same goal - to push the absolutely inapplicable "Zelensky formula" as the only alternative basis for resolving the conflict, to gain its support from the world majority, to present Russia with an ultimatum to surrender, and therefore we do not participate in such summits," she said. On July 11, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Russia would not participate in the new summit planned for the Ukrainian crisi s, stressing that Moscow does not accept what he described as "ultimatums." Galuzin said: "We know the intentions of the Kiev regime and Western coordinators, who are trying to revive the failed Brgenstock summit in Switzerland in mid-June, and they are thinking of holding a similar event and possibly inviting Russia." Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a peace initiative with Ukraine, on the condition that sanctions imposed on Russia are lifted, and the rights, freedoms and interests of Russian-speaking citizens in Ukraine are completely guaranteed. Putin added that Russia is offering a real peace proposal to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, but if the West and Kiev refuse, they will be responsible for the bloodshed. The Russian president stressed that the selfishness and arrogance of Western countries led to the current situation, and that the world is approaching the point of no return.
