The Russian COVID-19 response centre Saturday reported a record spike in the number of daily COVID-19 deaths, with 1,002 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 222,315.
More than 33,200 people tested positive for the highly contagious respiratory disease, as the caseload in the country nears 8 million, while the total number of recoveries stands at around 7 million.
