Amman: Russian natural gas supplies to Turkiye fell 4% in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year, reflecting lower volumes delivered through the pipeline network linking the two countries, Russia's Energy Ministry said on Monday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry stated that Turkiye imported 1.27 billion cubic meters of natural gas in May through the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines. These pipelines are crucial conduits for the transportation of Russian gas to Turkiye, and the decrease in gas flow marks a significant shift in energy dynamics between the two nations.
The ministry further reported that total gas imports through the two pipelines reached 9.6 billion cubic meters between January and the end of May. This figure highlights the scale of the energy trade between Russia and Turkiye, despite the observed decline in supply for the current year. The reasons behind the reduced supply were not detailed in the statement.
