Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Ahmad Safadi, emphasized the need for increased efforts to advance the Kingdom's agricultural sector. Safadi highlighted that the House will reach out to the government to assist in addressing farmers' grievances and ensure they receive adequate support.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi, during a meeting with farmers from various governorates in the Kingdom, mentioned that the House plans to engage with officials responsible for the management of foreign workers' recruitment and subscription to the Social Security Corporation (SSC). The goal is to find solutions that are equitable for the farmers.
The farmers emphasized the necessity of revisiting the Ministry of Labor and SSC's decisions regarding recruitment instructions. The delegation pointed out that these guidelines should address the sector's requirements, particularly given the local workforce's reluctance to work in agriculture. They also called for the reduction of recruitment fees, which have become a significant burden.
Furthermore, the farmers requested a revamp of the SSC subscription payment mechanism to avoid the need for monthly subscription fees. They also appealed for a reduction in work permit fees due to their challenging circumstances and for easier access to these permits.
