School dropouts urged to join remedial education program-Ministry

Ministry of Education called on its directorates Sunday to contact with parents of children, who are unenrolled in the Kingdom's regular education system to register in the remedial program. According to its statement, the ministry asked its directorates countrywide to announce the program on the schools' platforms, or through appropriate means, which targets Jordanian and non-Jordanian learners, who are unenrolled in the Kingdom's regular education system. The ministry added that registration will be made at the Kingdom's public education directorates, noting the program covers the students' transportation and food costs. The program aims to provide basic education for beneficiaries, who have dropped out of school, within the age group of 9-12 years, the statement pointed out. The ministry stated that the initiative is a compensatory opportunity through 3 intensive educational levels for the first 6 basic grades, over 3 academic years. The program also addresses the dropout problem to reduce illiteracy rates and child labor. Source: Jordan News Agency
