School Supplies Well Stocked as Prices Remain Stable, ACC Says

Amman: School supplies are available in sufficient quantities in local market, with prices remaining generally stable ahead of the new academic year, according to Asaad Qawasmi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC). According to Jordan News Agency, Qawasmi said traders have supplied locally manufactured school uniforms for students at different educational levels in both public and private schools. He noted that uniform prices have remained broadly in line with previous years despite higher operating costs and increased shipping expenses. For public schools, uniforms for female primary students range from JD 5 to JD 6, while those for preparatory and secondary students cost between JD 7 and JD 9. For male students, prices range from JD 6 to JD 8 at the primary level and JD 9 to JD 10 at the preparatory and secondary levels, depending on quality and tailoring. Uniform prices at private schools vary from one school to another, Qawasmi said. He estimated Jordan's imports o f back-to-school goods, including clothing, fabrics and footwear, at more than JD 25 million, noting that these products are available in substantial quantities in the local market for students across all educational levels. School bag prices, meanwhile, vary according to quality and the student's educational level, ranging from JD 4 to JD 10, excluding international brands.
