Amman: Senate President Faisal Fayez has emphasized the Upper House's dedication to offering its legislative and parliamentary expertise to assist the Palestinian people, focusing on labor matters and legislative advancements across several sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez made these remarks during a meeting with Palestinian Minister of Labor Inas Attari and representatives from the government, workers, and employers within the tripartite labor framework. Senator Issa Murad, Chairman of the Senate Labor and Social Development Committee, was also present at the meeting.
Fayez highlighted the Senate Labor Committee's willingness to provide legal and technical advisory support to the Palestinian side, especially in areas related to labor rights and social security. He stressed the importance of aiding Palestinian institutions in drafting a comprehensive and contemporary social security law.
He reiterated Jordan's consistent support for the Palestinian people amidst the ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank. Fayez underlined that Jordan, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, is committed to defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and continues to engage diplomatically at both Arab and international levels to end the aggression and advance a political resolution to the Palestinian issue.
Fayez also mentioned His Majesty's direct involvement in Jordan's humanitarian efforts, which include delivering aid to Gaza, maintaining military field hospitals in Palestinian territories, and opposing Israeli expansionist policies. He urged for increased coordination among Arab trade unions to protect Palestinian workers and called on the international community and the International Labor Organization to meet their moral and legal responsibilities. He emphasized the need to pressure Israel to comply with international conventions protecting workers' rights and to ensure a fair and secure working environment for Palestinian laborers in line with international legal standards.
Minister Attari commended Jordan's historic stance, guided by King Abdullah II, in supporting the Palestinian people and their cause. She highlighted the importance of Jordan's role in strengthening Palestinian resilience and praised the depth of bilateral cooperation.
Attari expressed gratitude for Jordan's technical expertise, particularly in the labor and social security sectors, and emphasized the benefit of drawing from Jordanian experience in drafting modern legislation and training technical personnel. She also acknowledged the valuable support provided by the Senate's Labor and Social Development Committee in guiding the development of a Palestinian social security framework and in facilitating broader measures to protect and empower Palestinian workers.
