Amman: The Senate's Jordanian-Greek Friendship Committee, headed by Senator Mohammed Daoudiyeh, convened with Greek Ambassador to Jordan Irene Riga, marking the conclusion of her diplomatic mission to the Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting at the Senate's headquarters, Daoudiyeh acknowledged the ambassador's efforts in fostering friendship and cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing the development of ties in economic, trade, investment, tourism, and cultural fields. He highlighted the need for further collaboration in parliamentary matters and the exchange of expertise between the Senate and the Greek Parliament.
Daoudiyeh accentuated the role of parliamentary diplomacy and friendship committees in enhancing communication and coordination on shared concerns. He remarked on the cooperative relationship among Jordan, Greece, and Cyprus, underscoring the importance of this foundation for trilateral cooperation to support regional security and prosperity.
He also stressed the ongoing need for Jordanian-Greek coordination on regional and international issues, advocating for intensified efforts toward global security and peace. Daoudiyeh praised King Abdullah II's endeavors in defending the Palestinian cause and protecting holy sites in Jerusalem under Hashemite Custodianship, as well as the king's contributions to regional and global stability.
Ambassador Riga expressed Greece's commitment to continuing its partnership with Jordan, noting the advanced levels of relations achieved. She commended Jordan's role under King Abdullah II's leadership in fostering regional security and addressing challenges.
Committee members and senators emphasized the importance of furthering Jordanian-Greek relations through parliamentary diplomacy and expertise exchange, aiming to strengthen relations and serve the interests of both nations. They recognized Ambassador Riga's efforts during her tenure in Jordan.
