Manama: A delegation from the Senate, led by Chairperson of the Senate Administrative Committee Senator Tawfiq Krishan and including Senators Amer Hadidi and Ghazi Sarhan, participated in the meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's Economic and Sustainable Development Committee.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting commenced in the Kingdom of Bahrain with parliamentary delegations from over 15 Asian countries. The primary goal was to enhance regional cooperation in economic and development sectors and promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The agenda addressed crucial topics such as the establishment of an integrated Asian energy market, addressing environmental challenges, promoting sustainable economic growth, and sharing expertise in water, sanitation, and climate-finance initiatives.
Participants highlighted the significance of reinforcing the role of Asian parliaments in supporting development efforts and advancing legislation and policies that contribute to comprehensive and sustainable growth.
Senator Krishan reiterated Jordan's steadfast position under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II on the Palestinian cause and the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that regional and global stability cannot be realized while the Palestinian people continue to face injustice.
He also reaffirmed Jordan's support for the State of Qatar, echoing His Majesty the King's statement that "the security of Qatar and the Gulf states is part of Jordan's security."
Participating delegations praised the level of cooperation among Asian Parliamentary Assembly member states and stressed the importance of such meetings in fostering regional dialogue and exchanging expertise for the benefit of the Asian continent's peoples.
