Amman: President of the Senate Faisal Fayez met with Yann Fridez, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Jordan, at the Senate to discuss the organization's humanitarian efforts in the region and its role in supporting communities affected by conflicts.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez underscored the ICRC's significant humanitarian contributions, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining support for populations impacted by conflicts and advancing humanitarian initiatives related to the protection and preservation of human rights. He also provided an overview of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the consequences of the Israeli occupation's actions and noting that the ongoing conflict in Gaza represents a violation of international humanitarian law.
Fridez outlined the ICRC's longstanding work in Jordan, which began in 1967, and expressed appreciation for Jordan's efforts in promoting international humanitarian law. He also acknowledged the country's support for regional logistical operations, with Amman serving as a central hub for aid distribution.
