Senate President Faisal Fayez discussed with four foreign ambassadors ways to strengthen Jordanian relations with their countries and advance various areas of cooperation.

Fayez made the remarks at separate meetings on Thursday, with Spain’s ambassador, Aranzazu Banon Davalos, Romania’s Nikolai Komanescu, Sri Lanka’s Shanika Dissanayake, and Kazakhstan’s Aidarabek Tumatov.

“Jordan always seeks to strengthen its relations with the world countries and build on them in various fields and sectors,” he told the envoys.

Fayez stressed the importance of expanding the cooperation horizons between Amman and the ambassadors’ countries, to include various political, parliamentary, economic, cultural and tourism fields, calling on exchanging expertise.

Fayez pointed to the importance of investing in Jordan’s “lucrative” environment at various levels, on top of which are the investment areas, availability of human competencies, and attractive and rare tourist sites, especially religious and medical tourism, to enhance cooperation aspects and prospects.

Fayez called for increasing investments with the four countries and enhancing joint cooperation in various fields, to confront the Covid-19 pandemic, indicating that Jordan faces “major” economic challenges due to the disease’s repercussions, regional conflicts, lack of the Middle East instability and security.

In regard to Tel Aviv’s policies, he reiterated Jordan’s position in rejecting Israeli practices and violations against the Palestinians in all Palestinian territories, especially in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the Old City of Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

On Middle East peacemaking, he affirmed the unwavering Jordanian position on the Palestinian cause to end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which is based on the two-state solution that guarantees establishment of an independent Palestinian state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines.

The ambassadors, for their part, expressed their countries’ interest in strengthening and building on the existing relations with Jordan, and opening new horizons of cooperation in various fields and sectors.
