Senate President Faisal Fayez Tuesday stressed the deep-rooted Jordanian-French ties and said His Majesty King Abdullah II is interested in further bolstering bilateral cooperation in political, economic and other fields.

During a meeting with French ambassador to Jordan, Véronique Vouland-Aneini, Fayez praised relations with France, noting that Paris is a key partner in efforts to bring about peace in the Middle East.

He called for increasing aid by France and the European Union for Jordan to continue its vital role in achieving peace and pursuing its humanitarian efforts toward Syrian refugees.

The Senate head also stressed the need to forge more economic partnerships, and urged the French side to benefit from investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

The French envoy lauded Jordan’s support of international efforts to end disputes, advance peace and fight terrorism in the Middle East, pointing to the Kingdom’s efforts to provide a decent life for Syrian refugees and stressing the importance of supporting Jordan.
