Amman: Zain Jordan and Royal Jordanian Airlines have signed a cooperation agreement to introduce a new service at Queen Alia International Airport, equipping the facility with tablets designed for sign language interpretation in collaboration with Merge company. The service aims to assist deaf travelers in communicating with airport staff and Royal Jordanian services, thereby facilitating travel procedures and promoting greater independence.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement was formalized by Royal Jordanian Vice Chairman/CEO Samer Majali and Zain CEO Fahad Aljasem during a ceremony where the service was demonstrated and tested on tablets prior to its rollout. Aljasem emphasized that the initiative highlights Zain’s commitment to providing innovative digital solutions that cater to all societal segments, aligning with its social responsibility goals.
Majali reiterated Royal Jordanian’s dedication to offering inclusive travel services for passengers with disabilities, with a particular focus on deaf individuals. The new service will be accessible at several locations within the airport, including the departures hall, sales office, transit office (south), baggage services office, Crown Lounge, and first-class office. The tablets will utilize Zain’s high-speed network to provide continuous interpretation services via the Merge platform.
