Social Development Minister and UN Delegation Discuss Collaborative Social Programs

Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa on Thursday met with a delegation from the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to discuss strengthening cooperation on social programs.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa highlighted the importance of partnerships with UN programs to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. She outlined the National Social Protection Strategy 2025-2033, which is aligned with Jordan's modernization efforts and aims to improve the social protection system's inclusiveness and efficiency.

The minister emphasized collaboration with UN agencies in areas such as social protection, combating domestic violence, digital transformation, data systems enhancement, and resource mobilization for financial sustainability. She noted the significance of the care economy and the recent adoption of the Social Work Profession Practice Regulation to improve social services.

Bani Mustafa also discussed economic empowerment initiatives for families supported by the National Aid Fund, aiming to equip them with vocational skills to transition from assistance to productivity and labor market integration. She expressed hope for expanding the partnership with UN agencies to enhance social services.

UN representatives praised the ministry's cooperation and its role in advancing social services, reaffirming their commitment to supporting Jordan's National Social Protection Strategy as a strategic partner.
