Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa and Laila Bakr, the Regional Director for Arab States at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), met on Sunday to discuss joint cooperation in social fields. The meeting, attended by UNFPA's representative in Jordan, Humair Abdul Ghani, aimed to enhance collaboration in several critical social areas and programs targeting Jordan's vulnerable groups.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa highlighted the importance of close cooperation with UNFPA, particularly in the development of the National Multi-Sectoral Plan for Prevention and Response. This plan, set for implementation between 2026 and 2030, focuses on child protection, domestic violence, and violence against women and girls. It serves as a national framework that aligns with the National Social Protection Strategy for 2025-2033, aiming to strengthen prevention and response efforts.
Bani Mustafa reiterated the ministry's commitment to its strategic partnership with UNFPA, emphasizing its role in supporting Jordan's national development agenda. This partnership is expected to enhance the quality of services and programs available to the country's most vulnerable populations.
The minister also commended UNFPA's support in improving the national social protection and services system, particularly for people with disabilities. As Chair of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs, she discussed the significance of cooperation in social policies and addressing multidimensional poverty through the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) in Jordan.
In response, Laila Bakr acknowledged the progress within Jordan's social protection system and the ministry's achievements in implementing national priorities. She expressed optimism about developing future avenues for cooperation and partnership.
