Seoul: South Korean former President Yoon Suk Yeol appeared before prosecutors on Saturday due to allegations against his wife involving bribery charges.
According to Anadolu Agency, this marked the first appearance of the jailed former president before special counsel Min Joong-ki's team. The investigation, which began in July, aims to probe corruption and other allegations surrounding ex-first lady Kim Keon Hee.
Yoon is accused of being an accomplice to his wife when she allegedly received luxury gifts in exchange for favors. Prosecutors are examining whether Yoon was involved in Kim's alleged acceptance of these gifts.
However, Yoon's lawyer has stated that the former president was "completely unaware" of any such dealings. Both Yoon and Kim are currently under arrest and are facing separate trials on charges of martial law and corruption, respectively.
