Southern Military Zone Foils Drone Drug-Smuggling Attempts

Amman: The Southern Military Zone early Sunday foiled two attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics using two drones on its western front, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. Border Guard forces detected the drones, applied the rules of engagement, and shot them down inside Jordanian territory. The seized materials were transferred to the relevant authorities.

According to Jordan News Agency, the operation was a coordinated effort involving multiple security and military entities. The drones, carrying substantial drug payloads, were intercepted before they could cross into unauthorized areas. The swift response by the Border Guard forces ensured that the narcotics did not reach their intended destinations.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in combating drug smuggling via advanced technologies such as drones. The authorities remain vigilant and continue to enhance their capabilities to counter such threats effectively. The seized narcotics are now with the relevant authorities for further investigation and processing.
