The Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF)’s assets totaled JD13.57 billion by the end of 2022’s third quarter compared to JD12.34 billion in the corresponding period of 2021, up JD1.2 billion and indicating an 8.1 percent return rate, said the Fund’s CEO Kholoud Saqqaf in a statement on Sunday.

Breaking down the fund’s investment portfolios, Saqqaf stated that bonds account for 55.7 percent of the total assets, followed by stocks at 18.4 percent, financial market instruments at 13.3 percent, real estate investments at 5.6 percent, loans at 3.4 percent, and tourism ventures at 2.3 percent.

The SSIF’s top executive indicated that the fund’s revenue in the January-September period of 2022 jumped to JD505 million, signaling a growth of 14 percent from the JD440 million recorded in the same period of 2021. She pointed out that revenue growth was primarily driven by higher returns on bonds, financial market instruments, and dividends received from companies in which the SSIF has equity.

Furthermore, Saqqaf said the value of the fund’s stock portfolio stood at JD2.48 billion or 18.4 percent of the total assets, including stocks of companies listed in the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE), which climbed to some JD2.2 billion, constituting 2.3 percent of the ASE’s total market capitalization. She noted the fund’s stock portfolio had a return rate of 26.2 percent in the first nine months of 2022.

As for the bonds portfolio, the SSIF CEO indicated that it constituted 55.7 percent of the fund’s overall investment portfolio for the current year, achieving a return rate of 5.9 percent.

The SSIF has been increasing real estate investments since the start of 2022, pushing its real estate portfolio value to JD754 million by the end of September, Saqqaf indicated.
