Stockholm: The Swedish Foreign Ministry has taken the significant step of summoning the Russian ambassador in response to recent Russian military actions in Ukraine that resulted in civilian casualties and damage to significant international buildings, including the EU Delegation in Kyiv.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a written statement confirming the summons, underscoring its protest against "Russia's continued attacks on Ukrainian cities and the civilian population." The ministry emphasized the importance of Russia adhering to international humanitarian law, specifically the obligation to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure during conflicts.

The context of this diplomatic move follows a major Russian attack on Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, detailed the ongoing search and rescue operations, confirming the number of casualties on social media platform Telegram.

Additionally, the attack also damaged buildings associated with significant international entities, including the British Council and the EU mission in Kyiv, highlighting the broader impact of the hostilities on international diplomatic missions and their operations in Ukraine.
