Amman: The Syrian Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology announced Wednesday that Syria has officially rejoined the global telecommunications system following more than a decade of absence. This significant development was revealed during the visit of Syrian Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, Abdul Salam Heikal, and his delegation to Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, this move marks a crucial step for Syria as it seeks to reintegrate into the international telecommunications community. By rejoining the global GSM Association (GSMA) network, Syria can now participate in various activities organised by the association, which is primarily focused on cellular communications.
This reintegration allows Syria access to a wide range of services, including participation in international conferences and capacity-building programmes. Syrian companies can now connect with the GSMA network and take advantage of the opportunities and benefits offered by the organisation.
