Amman: Minister of Transport, Wissam Tahtamouni, on Thursday expressed appreciation for the Italian side's initiatives in supporting Jordan's transport sector. In a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Jordan, Luciano Pizzuti, accompanied by a delegation from the Italian company MERMEC, the minister emphasized the "deep-rooted" bilateral relations.

According to Jordan News Agency, Tahtamouni also noted the ministry's "openness" to cooperation with international partners and its endeavor to benefit from "successful" global experiences in developing an "integrated and effective" transport system that contributes to support national economy and achieve "sustainable" development.

Meanwhile, Pizzuti expressed his country's interest in enhancing cooperation with Jordan in the transport field, stressing Italy's willingness to offer its "advanced" expertise, through specialized companies, mainly MERMEC, in multiple technical and technological fields for transport projects.

During the meeting, the two sides went over future cooperation avenues, proposing several ideas aimed to contribute to development of Jordan's transportation projects that target smart systems, infrastructure improvement, railways, and technology used in this "vital" sector.
