Tax Department Notifies 103,000 Taxpayers of Partial Refund Transfers

Amman: The Income and Sales Tax Department on Sunday initiated a process to notify taxpayers eligible for tax refunds for 2024 by sending text messages. These messages informed recipients that 40% of their refunds had been transferred to their bank account IBANs.

According to Jordan News Agency, the department reached out to approximately 103,000 taxpayers from a total of 116,000 who are eligible for refunds. This group includes about 96,000 employees and staff members, in addition to 7,000 individual taxpayers who satisfied the eligibility criteria. These criteria encompass the payment of withheld taxes and the accuracy of their bank account information.

Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Hussam Abu Ali, stated that the remaining 60% of the refunds will be prioritized for distribution during the early months of 2026. He also mentioned that the department is working in coordination with the Ministry of Finance to accelerate the disbursement of the remaining amounts to all qualified taxpayers.
