Thousands Participate in Friday Prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque Despite Heightened Security

Jerusalem: Despite the increased security and limitations imposed by Israeli occupation forces in and around occupied Jerusalem, tens of thousands of worshipers performed Friday prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to Jordan News Agency, Palestinian media sites reported that 60,000 worshipers gathered for the Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque, based on information from the Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem.

The gates of the Old City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, as well as military checkpoints throughout the city, were heavily guarded by Israeli occupation soldiers. In addition to stopping scores of young men, checking their identification, and preventing several of them from praying at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the forces erected metal barriers around the Old City and the mosque.
