Three Children Drown in Irbid Agricultural Pond

Irbid: Three children, two aged seven and one aged ten, drowned in an agricultural pond in the Al Karimah area of Irbid Governorate. The tragic incident prompted a swift response from the West Irbid Civil Defence operations room.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) reported that specialised rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene upon receiving the distress call. Despite the rapid response, the children were recovered from the pond but were found to have died.

The PSD confirmed that ambulance crews transferred the bodies to Abu Ubaida Government Hospital. In light of this incident, the PSD urged the public to avoid valleys, streams, water bodies, agricultural ponds, and irrigation canals. They emphasized the importance of preventing children from approaching these water spaces to avert further drowning incidents.
