Petra: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin, Chairperson of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority Fares Breizat, French Ambassador to Jordan Frank Gellet, and Director General of the Department of Antiquities Fawzi Abu Dnah inspected the excavation, study, and site management project at Qasr Al-Bint in the Petra Archaeological Park.
According to Jordan News Agency, the project is spearheaded by a specialized team from the French Institute for the Near East in Amman (IFPO), with oversight from the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority. Hijazin underscored the project's significance in enhancing the understanding of Nabataean history, particularly from the pre-Christian era. He acknowledged the unique Roman architectural style of Qasr Al-Bint and pointed out that a vast majority of Petra's archaeological treasures remain un-excavated.
Breizat remarked that the purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the French mission's work at the site. He noted the emergence of significant archaeological discoveries and emphasized the authority's commitment to ongoing excavation efforts and collaboration with the French team. This cooperation aims to expand into broader domains of archaeological research and exploration.
