Tourism Ministry Advises Public to Check Travel Agency Licenses

Baku:The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has issued a public advisory urging individuals to verify the licensing and classification of travel agencies before booking trips or making payments. This initiative aims to safeguard consumer rights and prevent fraudulent offers.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry stressed the importance of dealing only with officially accredited agencies to ensure adherence to tourism sector regulations. It clarified that any entity offering tourism services or selling travel packages via websites, mobile applications, and digital platforms must obtain prior authorization as mandated by the Tourism Law and its regulations.

The ministry referenced Article 9 of the Tourism Law, which mandates that only authorized entities can operate tourism services. Additionally, Article 21 outlines penalties for unauthorized operations, including imprisonment for six months to a year, fines ranging from JOD 3,000 to JOD 10,000, or both.

To protect against unverified operators and misleading marketing, the ministry recommended that consumers confirm an agency's credentials before proceeding with bookings or financial transactions. This can be done by contacting the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities directly at (063360460).
