Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday that Ankara is implementing transformative measures in its defense sector to promote regional and global stability. This initiative aligns with the foreign policy principle of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Trkiye - 'Peace at home, peace in the world.'
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan emphasized efforts to enhance domestic unity while pursuing significant developments, particularly in the defense industry. Speaking via phone to troops at the Artillery and Missile School Command in Polatli district of Ankara on New Year's Eve, he stated, "We are in a vigorous struggle to ensure stability in our region and beyond."
Erdogan detailed Trkiye's expanding arsenal and indigenous capabilities, including Altay tanks, Firtina howitzers, ATAK helicopters, armed and unarmed drones, long-range missiles, air defense systems, warships, submarines, and unmanned sea vehicles. He described the advancements as a major leap forward across all areas of defense, emphasizing the country's reliance on its resources to build a self-sufficient military infrastructure.
Despite facing challenges and obstacles, Erdogan noted that Trkiye has seized a historic opportunity to convert recent gains into lasting achievements. He reiterated his government's commitment to further strengthening the nation and passing on a new, strong, and great Trkiye to future generations.
