Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that "Trkiye's stance on Gaza is clear," emphasizing that human rights and humanity are central to Ankara's policy.
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan expressed these views in an article titled "A Shared Path to Peace and Justice," published in China's People's Daily newspaper. The article, as reported by Trkiye's Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on the social media platform NSosyal, highlights the inadequacies of the current international system in addressing crises and safeguarding the rights of innocents. Erdogan pointed to the situation in Gaza, marked by Israel's actions, as a significant example of this global shortcoming.
Erdogan detailed Trkiye's ongoing efforts to secure the safety of civilians, ensure continuous humanitarian aid, and achieve a lasting ceasefire. He stressed that while Ankara provides humanitarian support on the ground, it also engages in diplomatic efforts to promote ceasefire implementation and protect civilians.
The Turkish president asserted that establishing a fully independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is crucial for lasting peace in the region. He further advocated for actions on multiple fronts, such as strengthening economic ties and cultural exchanges, to advance regional peace.
Erdogan reiterated Trkiye's commitment to global stability and peace diplomacy, citing initiatives like the Black Sea Grain Initiative and Ukraine-Russia talks as examples of Ankara's contribution. He highlighted the importance of trust-building and open communication channels in Turkish foreign policy.
As Trkiye prepares to participate in the 25th Heads of State Council meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin, Erdogan emphasized the opportunity to share perspectives on regional and global matters. He underscored Trkiye's role in promoting justice, equity, and a more inclusive global order.
Reflecting on Trkiye's historical ties with China, Erdogan expressed hope that his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping would enhance mutual trust and bilateral relations. He emphasized Trkiye's commitment to peace and cooperation, aiming to unite the international community around shared values for a fairer world.
