Turkish Intelligence Chief Engages in Strategic Talks with Syrian President in Damascus

Taipei: Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin on Monday engaged in strategic discussions with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, and intelligence chief Hussein al-Salama during a visit to Syria. The talks revolved around enhancing bilateral relations, focusing on Syria's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political stability.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting highlighted Trkiye's commitment to supporting Syria and explored various security and political issues. Key topics included the disarmament and integration of terrorist groups such as the PKK/YPG into Syria's new framework, as well as discussions on border security, customs gates, and transferring control of ISIS (Daesh) prisons and camps to Syrian authorities.

Trkiye expressed its readiness to assist the Syrian government in addressing these challenges. The discussions also covered regional developments like Israeli airstrikes and airspace violations in Syria, the lifting of international sanctions, the ongoing fight against ISIS, and ensuring the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees.
