Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index, BIST 100, closed Wednesday at 11,261.52 points, marking an increase of 0.37% from the previous close. The index started the last trading day of the year at 11,249.6 points and gained 41.35 points compared to Tuesday's close. Throughout the day, the index saw a low of 11,238.60 and reached a high of 11,324.36.
According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index recorded a substantial gain of 14.56% in 2025, rising from 9,830.56 points at the end of 2024. On Wednesday, 57 indexes ended in positive territory, while 38 indexes experienced declines. The day's transaction volume reached 112.6 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to approximately $2.62 billion. By the close of the year, the overall value of the index stood at 10.64 trillion liras, or $248.3 billion.
The foreign exchange market saw the USD/TRY exchange rate at 42.9650, the EUR/TRY rate at 50.4810, and the GBP/TRY trading at 57.7390 by 6.25 pm local time (1525GMT). Additionally, the price of gold was reported at $4,335.65 per ounce, while Brent oil was priced at $61.45 per barrel.
