Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the first trading day of the week at 9,659.31 points, marking a 1.82% increase from the previous close.
According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index began the day at 9,554.93 points and saw a gain of 172.75 points from the close on Thursday last week. The stock market had been closed on Friday and Monday due to the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
Throughout the trading session, the index reached its lowest at 9,546.59 and its highest at 9,679.11. A total of 86 indices gained value, while 13 ended the day with losses.
The total transaction volume was recorded at 98.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion), with the overall index value at 8.76 trillion liras ($224.25 billion). As of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.2105, the EUR/TRY rate stood at 44.8136, and the GBP/TRY traded at 53.0295.
Meanwhile, the price of gold was $3,324.50 per ounce, and Brent oil was priced at $66.70 per barrel.
