In a statement issued on his behalf, Guterres said he is closely following the situation in Nepal and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

According to Jordan News Agency, Guterres urged restraint to prevent further escalation of violence and called on authorities to comply with international human rights law. The Secretary-General emphasized that protests should be conducted peacefully, with respect for life and property, and called for dialogue to establish a constructive path forward.
