UN chief condemns Israeli aggression on Beit Lahia

United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres on Monday condemned the continued widespread loss of life in Gaza, including Israeli air strikes in Beit Lahia, which resulted in the martyrdom of a number of Palestinians, including women and children. In a statement read to reporters by his deputy spokesperson, Farhan Haq, Guterres emphasized the need to respect and protect civilians at all times, calling for immediate and unrestricted access for humanitarian and rescue teams to save lives. Guterres warned that the recent attacks on hospitals in northern Gaza are exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis and putting the lives of tens of thousands at serious risk, stressing the importance of protecting patients and medical staff and not targeting hospitals.
