UN Chief Names New Mideast Humanitarian Coordinator

Amman: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday named Ramiz Akbarov of Azerbaijan as Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and Humanitarian Coordinator in the region. Akbarov replaces Muhannad Hadi of Jordan to whom the UN Chief expressed his appreciation for his efforts and dedication during his tenure.

According to Jordan News Agency, the appointment of Akbarov is part of ongoing efforts to address the complex humanitarian challenges in the Middle East. His role will involve coordinating various initiatives aimed at promoting peace and addressing humanitarian needs in the region.

Ramiz Akbarov brings extensive experience to the position, having previously served in different capacities within the United Nations. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to enhance coordination and effectiveness in tackling issues affecting the Middle East.
