New York: The United Nations relief chief has called for aid to be directed to the areas in Gaza where it is needed most, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that humanitarian assistance adheres to key principles. Efforts are underway to improve the situation, but more needs to be done.

According to United Nations, Stavros Lambrinidis, Head of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations, highlighted some positive developments, such as the delivery of fuel, the reopening of routes through Jordan and Egypt, the opening of a crossing point in North Gaza, and ongoing repairs to essential humanitarian infrastructure. These efforts mark progress, but the need for further action remains critical.

Lambrinidis emphasized that the distribution of aid must align with humanitarian principles, including humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence. He stressed that steps are being taken to prevent aid from being diverted to Hamas or other unintended recipients.

The European Union is committed to closely monitoring the implementation of these measures, Lambrinidis noted. He also expressed appreciation for updates from humanitarian partners involved in the efforts to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most in Gaza.
