The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, on Sunday condemned the Israeli occupation attacks on the Gaza Strip. "The nightmare in Gaza is intensifying as terrifying scenes unfold in the north of the Strip as a result of continuous Israeli attacks and the worsening humanitarian crisis," Wennesland said in a statement. "There is no safe place in Gaza," he added. He emphasized the need for unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, the cessation of war and displacement of Palestinians, and the protection of civilians. Wennesland referred to what happened in Beit Lahia last night, where dozens were killed in Israeli air strikes after weeks of intensive operations that resulted in the death of dozens of civilians and an almost complete absence of humanitarian aid reaching the population in the northern Gaza Strip.
