UNRWA Warns of Health Hazards in Gaza Due to Heat, Water Shortage

Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Saturday warned that a lack of clean water, overcrowded shelters, and soaring temperatures in the Gaza Strip could lead to dire health consequences.

According to Jordan News Agency, UNRWA emphasized the urgent need for the Israeli blockade to be lifted to allow the resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries, including essential hygiene appliances, to Gaza. The agency expressed concern over the current situation and its potential to exacerbate health risks for the population.

The agency reported that 800 individuals have been killed while attempting to secure food amidst the crisis. It highlighted that an effective distribution system has deteriorated into a dangerous ploy aimed at forcing people to flee, furthering what UNRWA describes as a policy of collective punishment against Palestinians in Gaza.
